Get to know Steve Holcombe, Vice President and Great Lakes Regional Manager! Steve has worked with Beacon Hill’s Northeast and Great Lakes regions for almost ten years, and has recently been promoted to Great Lakes Regional Manager to grow this part of the country.
During his tenure with Beacon Hill, Steve has worked on a wide range of environmental and energy risks, placing comprehensive pollution coverage along with supporting casualty lines for his clients.

What do you love most about your job?
Growing my relationships with retail agency contacts and carrier underwriting teams. I enjoy the interaction and trying to find a way to win a deal and help each other out as we continue to grow and learn together.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
Coming into Beacon Hill back in 2015, I had very limited knowledge of environmental insurance products. Being able to build a knowledge of the products and marketspace has been something I have always been proud of. Over my 9 years here, I have been able to learn from some of the best environmental professionals in the industry and that has helped my growth tremendously.
What inspired you to join the team here?
When I met the management team here at Beacon Hill, I could tell they have a passion for what they do every day. Being able to see that made me excited to join the team.
What do you think is the most important skill that a successful professional needs to have?
It is ok to say you don’t have an answer to a question that is asked. Finding the right answer is a lot better than providing a questionable solution in the short term.
What is the best advice you could give to a brand new employee?
It is easy to get overwhelmed in a new situation. Leverage the knowledge of the more experienced employees and ask a lot of questions. You will find that the majority of people are more than willing to help you out and provide advice/industry knowledge for all situations.
What motivates you to get up and go to work every morning?
One of the best things about my role here at Beacon Hill is I get to interact with like-minded individuals every day to solve problems. Working together for a common goal is a great motivator.
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
My wife and I would love to plan a trip to Scotland and Ireland for our 10th Anniversary which is coming up in 2 years.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I’d go with being able to fly. Who wouldn’t want to escape the world from time to time and soar through the clouds?
What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
My wife and I have been watching Masters of Air and re-watching Modern Family.
Where is your favorite place to be?
I love being at local parks with my kids. Seeing the joy of them playing is the best feeling. I also like a morning round on a quiet golf course.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
Ha, insurance broker of course! Growing up I was an avid snowboarder and would have loved to be a professional snowboarder. I still enjoy it as a hobby today and hope to introduce my kids to it in the near future.
